Loved this week’s article and your plans for replanting native trees. My partner’s family ( James Westhead who also follows you) has a very old farm in the Algarve with a great mix of trees. - mainly almond, and fig trees and some carob trees and pomegranate too.
Hey Rita - thanks a lot - we have a load of cork oaks and the two types of indigenous pine trees you get here - the tall ones, and the round ones that produce pine nuts...and loads of fruit and olive trees. I think we'll put more of them all in...but like you see with the old farm like yours, it's the mix of different layers that seems to be the way forward...any kind of monoculture seems bad...whether it's eucalyptus or pine nuts. We'd like to try some different trees that don't need much water, and mix it up a bit. It's interesting that the climate is very similar to where we were living in California...similar succulents and dry weather plants...so we will try and conserve water where we can and go that root in some places.
Terrific work. The photo gave an idea of the scale. V interesting about eucalyptus. Rather nice to live a little of your good life vicariously. Thank you and good luck with it.

Much prefer the After!
Losing the beard makes you look years younger!!
Thanks...it's the whole older/younger and fatter/thinner debate...!
Coming on Monday can’t wait🇧🇫!
Safe travels! And welcome...

Deffo two thumbs up for the “after” Al!👍👍
Good reading, as usual. Portugal is opening up now for sure, but not for Swedes yet. And, after is better 😊
Really enjoyed this weeks post - can't believe you have managed to clear so much ground so quickly. .. and yes definitely prefer the after!
