Don't worry about the oxalis, the draught is a much bigger problem!

In Madeira we know this weed as Azedinha. When the sun is shining its vivid flowers light up the countryside. Pull them up, get on with the gardening, they will still grow again next year!

With the exception of 2010, for the period of my 21 years in Madeira, year on year rainfall on the south side of the island has declined, I fear this year will be no exception. On the mainland January was cold and dry, rainfall practically zero and reservoirs at very low levels. A very bad combination and start to the year. Boa sorte!
