The most appealing element of your hospitality project is already in place - both of you! The remaining less important elements will plod along toward completion. Inside every bit of bad luck, future good luck is hidden. 🍀

Loved reading this, but I'm so sorry there are many obstacles in the way of you achieving your exciting dream. It seems you have amazing friends, from far and wide, who are willing you on and offering support in many ways. Keep calm (if you can) and carry on🍀🍀

Excellent piece ... to which we all can relate! May we publish this in Portugal Living Magazine, Alastair? All attribution and reference to your blog (and blogsite), of course, will be given.

Thanks Bruce - you’d be welcome to reprint it but I was wondering if you might be interested in a regular column? I can cover different topics from off grid, sustainability and wine /tourism etc. Let me know if that might be of interest.

It's a great story, Alastair, one which Portugal Living Magazine would like to reprint. At this point, we have about 24 writers, photographers, and illustrators contributing to the magazine. We've had three articles (between the last issue and the new one) on living off the grid and permaculture; Roseanna has been our wine columnist since our second issue. But we are always looking for good -- and different -- stories from new and different writers! For instance, I have a few articles scheduled for our Winter 2022-23 issue in search of authors:

> "Supermarket Selects" Fave supermarkets and specialty grocers? Why? Where? Several for specific products? The good, not-so-good, and indifferent--how?

> "Government" Intro to Portuguese government, how it's supposed work + where/when "residentes" can vote, which agencies expats/immigrants deal with the most. Good, bad, indifferent?

> "Before the End Comes" The topic sounds dismal and gruesome, but it's something everyone of us has to face: Making funeral preparations as expats and immigrants.

> "Facebook Friends and Foreigners" The sheer quantity of FB groups/Pages targeting expats/immigrants in Portugal is mind-boggling! Quality is a different matter. Which are the best, most focused & targeted? Which are some of the more unusual ones, "generalist" ones, and ones oriented towards special interests or needs?

Do any of these interest you? If so, you'd be welcome to use them in your blog, as well as published in Portugal Living Magazine. If not, pitch me some story ideas! Contact: publisher-editor@portugallivingmagazine.com.

Muito obrigado!

Don't give up. We will be in your neck of the wood 21 - 26 Aug. Hired a little house near Monte Ruivo. We will come round and help! or at the very least eat and drink with you. As an architect I sympathise> It's not easy and until you cut the ribbon it probably won't be. But when you do cut that ribbon it will feel so good. It will be beautiful and worth it all. Plus time is so good at helping us forget the shit. Keep going!

Do keep i.t up, Alastair. We are all in this together in having to adjust expectations and especially timings coupled with the soon to be made documentary called 'The Powers of the Camara'. There will be a day when you will look back and realise it all to have been worthwhile, I'm sure. But veey best wishes with it all.
