Hi Alastair- really enjoying your journey. I wondered what you were up to as no longer seeing you on tv. You have done amazing things since living on Burn Road. I lived at No 3 - parents Edna and Alan Jeffrey - have good memories of time there. Take care.
Chris - how great to hear from you...thanks for reading the blog...and I have happy memories of Burn Road too...we were number 22. Where is 3...is it the house on the other side of the cut up to Barlow Lane? I remember the name Jeffrey...
Hi no No 3 literally looked over your bungalow. You came over to see our baby - called Jeffrey of course - he is 43 now Mam and Dad moved to be near us at Cramlington 34 years ago but we stayed in touch with neighbours. Unfortunately they passed away a long time ago. I will keep reading about your adventure
I thought so...but I just checked on Google maps and it put me somewhere I wasn't expecting (on Barlow Lane!) Of course...I wrote Christmas cards to Mr & Mrs Jeffrey every year! It was a great place to grow up - I loved roaming the burn. Thanks for getting in touch...and for following our crazy adventure!
Alastair - Loving the journey and the prose! Here's what my vineyard manager says: "It’s Erineum mites. It’s a little unusual to see them like that this time of year but normally it’s not a big deal at all. If they get bad a little spray oil will kill them and also sulfur dust does a number on them both of which are really safe materials."
Fantastic - thanks a lot Stuart...very helpful. We have a winemaker here who suggests colomerus vitis mites...not sure if that's the same thing!? I hope all's well. We're still working on our podcast pilot...lots of things have come up in the meantime but we're looking forward to getting one out for feedback. Al
PS loved the nightingale. Awesome 😀

HI Alistair, what app do you use to recognise bird songs? Thanks!
Hey there - it was Bird Net (sorry it took a while...it was our friend's app that confirmed it!)
Thanks!
